IBGS Site Being Updated

Since you are a world traveled savvy surfer of the internet you know the IBGS Business Golf site is being updated.  And since you know that you also know that the IBGS Business Golf site is the only site that is telling you anything worth knowing about golf and business.

OH there are the sites that talk golf and throw in the word business to catch all those search engine spiders and there are the sites that talk about business and throw the word golf in for the same reason.  Really the IBGS site is the only place to go to read all about everything that is involved with the game of golf associated to it developing business.  Check it out and then come back to see the site when it is updated.

Blog and then Blog Somemore

I had a popular internet marketing guru ask me, “Why do you have so many different blog sites?”. Though my answer was pat he seemed to be astonished to learn that my approach to blogging is not only logical but what more people probably need to do.

My answer to my good friend’s question was two fold. First, I blog on different sites primarily to get to those people who only read blogs on that particular platform. Surveys show that people who blog on WP Free platform usually only read WP Free blogs from tier Tag Surfer or Tag Blogger searches. The same goes with Blogger as well as the more Open Source platforms like Type Pad and WordPress.

The second answer to why I blog on so many different sites is, like most people, I have so many different interests and moods. I wake up in the morning and I may want to pass on my Business Golf Experience or my Business Operations experience or my Internet Blogging experience or my Non-Profit Experience or, more importantly, my humor.

As we went into more questions and answers to why I do what I do and what I write about we got into the debate on if I feel I am to unfocused in my drive to what I do for a living. The answer is yes and no. We have agreed that for most people who have single minded drives what I am doing would not work. And we agreed that what I am doing does provide readers the ability to either focus on one thing I write about or jump around and read everything I have to write about.

To be specific and clear for those new friends I am gathering who may not know or have yet to find out that I have several themes and subject I write about, here is the breakdown, or program, for the sites I write about and the subjects I write about on those sites.

IBGS: Business Golf

business-golf-tees-in-pocket-banner.jpgThis is my home site. A stand alone WP platform I use to focus everyone in what is going on in the world of Business Golf. Here I will write about things that effect business or golf or how business golf can be used. I will review a golf course from a business golf point of view or I will outline a point of a business’ operations that Business Golf can help develop. I will report news on subjects that effect the game of golf and how it effects the golf business or industry. Periodically I will write an essay on some off the wall subject or report on something that effects my business on the internet.

This site would be where someone who is interested in learning more about WHY they need to learn to play Business Golf.

Business Golf: The Real Deal

This use to be my home site until I needed to get more commercial. Most of my pre 2007 archives are still there and I periodically will post a blog there just to keep in touch with the many people I have on my Blogroll over there. This site is on the WP Free platform and as I mentioned, there are a large number of people on the internet who will not venture from the blogs for this platform.

This site is where I focus on the game of golf, the rules of golf and the personalities of golf. This site is where the golfers of the world usually go to read my opinions on what the heck is going on in the world of just golf.

The Duke Consults

Now here is where I cut loose on issues that effect businesses directly. I display here my depth of business experience and problem solving skills. This too is a WP Free platform that will not allow me to commercialize on what I do for a living. However, the fans I draw to this site usually have the intelligence to track me back to my IBGS site.

Here I will periodically report on what is going on around the business world and hammer issues like the absurdities of online social networking groups and decay of business people today feeling that strengthening a business’s operations is not needed.

Business Golf Blog

Now this is the site where it all started for me. My first attempt of learning how to blog and what blogging is all about was done on the Blogger platform. It didn’t take me long to hit Bloggers limits in what back then it would do. Blogger has since come a long way and offered a better and easier platform. Unfortunately, Blogger still looks on the screen like a blog and not a web-site. With that said, I am now seeing people using new themes and other techniques to improve the Blogger’s appearance.

I usually use the Blogger site to do short headline blogs featuring what i am talking about on my other sites as well as some of the important issues many of my internet friends are talking about.

Is This Really ALL Worth It

Now this site is where I just let it all hang out. I started this site after losing a new internet friend who was blogging his attempts to make a living on the internet. His journal of very frank reporting of all of the things he tried that SEO’s Direct Marketers of the sort told him to use and did not work was short lived. In a few short months after investing in a number of SEO’s sites that where just set up to get people’s money he was forced into bankrupts and leaving the blogsphere.

I continue where my find left off to draw to people’s attention the downside of the internet and how Offshore influences are capitalizing on people around the world into thinking that SEO’s sites and Direct Marketing and the many, many MLM’s sites are going to make people a lot of money. I sharpen my pen and really get lathered up on this issue since I am running into them also. I will expose them to what they are and who they are in hopes that it helps those who are down to see that they are not alone. Hopefully I can catch some of these people before they go out and attempt to use these sties method of marketing their sites. There are GOOD SEO’s out there and I will highlight them. My quest for this site is to search for the answer to the question I am asking...Is This Really All Worth It.

Give Me A Friggin Break

Like the Is This Really All Worth It site, I flip things around here and blog on things I find during my many daily surfing through the crap of the internet. I will blog on the issue and promote the web-site that my good buddie Rex Dixon and I created a while back to let others who feel the same way to have a site they can post what they found. The blog site allows people to comment and the web-site allows people to release their frustrations about the crap they find on the internet that just begs for someone to ask someone else to Give Me A Friggin Break.

Now there are a prolifery of other sites I write for and Golf and social sites I am a member of where I also will post a new look at things for their members. The list of those sites is too long to list in this blog. Maybe I will do another post to explain why I am on those sites.

The Bottomline is: If you want to get noticed on the internet you have to go to where the people are on the internet. As I have written about many times, there are far too many groups of people online that move from group to group, platform to platform, using applications after applications to track for blogs that are on their interest. Staying in one place and talking about one thing will take a person a long time to gathering the people who are interested in what you are talking about. Especially if it is a niche market like Business Golf.

So if you have the time or even if you do not, take some time and consider setting up several shops and talk on a number of subjects. Then funnel all of that effort to the one site that is your reason for being on the internet.

This should answer the questions people have on why I blog on so many sites...or maybe not. Either way, if nothing else it explains why I do what I do.

Cost of Golf: Business Golf is the Solution

I frequently read about how some of the changes in our culture and society surrounding golf are going to impact the costs associated with providing golf.  Some experts in the golf industry predict good things coming and some predict that golf is finally meeting its match.  Even others are saying that if the changes the golf industry faces today are not addressed, golf will fall back to what it was 60 years ago.

So what are some of the good things and what are some of the things experts are saying are going to put golf out reach of the average middle class golfers.

The good news is golf is very popular.  More people are playing golf than ever before.  Estimates are that there are now 80 million golfers around the world.  A few years ago it was 47 million.  People are finding that golf fits their needs personally, socially and now professionally.

Still on the good side of things there are a huge number of business people who are interested into getting into golf but are hesitant because they cannot figure out how to make it fit into their busy day, or find a way for golf to help their business.

On the downside of what could take place in golf, experts are predicting the regulations our government is going to have to put into place on immigration will shake the golf industry to the core and will result in operations costs for golf facilities to rise.

What is taking place today with golf facilities, public and private, is the discounting of green fees, and other services provided at golf facilities, to be competitive.  This style of management will stress the balance sheets for golf facilities if changes are not made and solutions found.

The operation’s budget of a golf course is huge.  It takes a lot of resources to maintain a golf course.  The continuing increase in fuel costs has impacted the bottom-line but now the increase in labor costs will force golf facilities to raise the greens fees.

This would result in golf being thrown out of reach for a large number of golfers.

However, there are solutions.  Remember those business people who want to get into golf if they could find a way to benefit their business?  If they could only learn how to make it work...hummmmm, wonder who could help them?

Golf facilities need to look outside the normal approach they use today of how many tee times they need to book to float the golf course operation’s budget.  Golf facilities, as well as many golf related businesses, need to take on the challenges facing golf head on and not default to something that will not work any longer.

Bottomline: Find solutions.  There are some that need to be looked into. ...let me know how I can help.

Golfers: They are Not online, YET

Currently, in an effort to take my business to more golfers, I am out talking to business people, both online and offline, to get their take on my business plan.

So far I have talked to over 30 CEO’s, Senior VP’s, Owners, Founders, Employees and Retirees of businesses ranging from online direct marketing to General Counsel for one of the top law firms of America.  I asked them to give me their take on business golf and golf online in general.

To qualify this research, the people I am talking to interest level in golf ranges from 10% being rabid non-golfers to 10% being professional golfers...and all in between.

To keep from boring you with all of the statistical data and get closer to the bottom-line, the over whelming statement that has caught my attention is that 98% of these people say they have absolutely no interest in going online to find out about anything about golf.

Now, I realize that 30 people is not a widespread representation of the world of business nor golf.  I took that into account when I asked these people the questions and asked them another question that provided me more data.

I asked each person that out of the people that socialize with how many of them talk about being online looking for golf or they know for a fact that they are going online to visit with other golfers or looking for information on golf online.

Only the non-golfers remarked on seeing golfers online but they had no interest in communicating with them since they were golfers.

The rest of the people I have talked to (and still looking for more to talk to) say they had no associates who they have overheard saying they were online looking for golf information.

Now, the spectrum of the number of people my talking has covered is broadening some.  So the questions is now, Who are these people who are joining the many golf sites that are popping up online?

That is a good question and from what I have seen from joining over 20 golf sites, there are some good people in these groups but they are small in number.  There are also many more in these groups that have alternative motives contrary to socializing with anyone in the groups.

OH Yes, I have been challenged by the ‘MySpace wannabes’ who say they have 10’s of thousands of members which cannot be verified, so I want get into that.  Even if that was a true number it does not come close to being a significant amount of the total 47 million golfers in the world.  There I go, providing you with boring statistics...

Recently, my interviews have lead me to talk to a partner of an advertising firm who provided me with information from a market study his firm did for a golf related product.   The client was interested in promoting the product online.

Their study showed that there was not a significant number of REAL golfers, (being someone who plays golf that would understand the benefits of the products) to make it worth ANY WHILE to spend any money or time promoting the product outside of their obligatory web-site.

This report is so far what has driven home my thinking all along.  It also confirms that the golfers who are online are so consumer savvy they only are interested in things that have a larger Offline presence than an online presence.  Meaning, what they see on the golf course is what they go online looking for...

However, the report went further to profile more about who the golfers are that are online.  It did clarify that the information was gathered from interviews made with people who SAID they were online or were members of an online golf group.

60% of respondents are in the 18 to 25 year old range.  98% of that group was only online looking for a data or someone else to play golf with locally.  Out of the remainder of the group, 10% were in the 35 to 50 year group (the group that has the income of interest to the economy) and 98% of them were only online to find golf travel destinations or to book golf trips to golf resorts.

Out of the report there were 3% of the golfers who said they were business owners and came online looking for news on golf and golf related discussions.

So there you have it, over 80% of the golfers online are online just to find a date or book a golf trip.  This now explains why there are so many of these sites popping up.

So what is all of this telling me?  What do you think it is telling me?

I guess you will have to stay tuned to find out more about what else I am finding that effects golf online.

Business Golf: Can You Afford Not To?

The statement or remark I hear the most from business people I meet and talk to about the benefits of Business Golf is.....”I can’t afford to..”.  It is either I can’t afford to...take the time, or I just cannot afford to.... to play golf

Either way it is telling me they do not know how to make golf work for them in business or they just have not tried at all to use golf as a business tool due their thinking it is two expensive.

There are ways of going about using golf as a business tool that are affordable and time effective.  What comes next is lack of confidence in it really working.

Usually, the “lack of time issue” is the caused by something in the set-up of the business’ operation.  Usually, too much time is spent doing repetitive or redundant tasks that take away from the time that can be spent in reaping the benefits associated from playing business golf.

As far as the ‘cannot afford issue’ that usually is caused from lack of long term planning.  Business Golf does not have to be played everyday.  With long term thinking an annual business golf outing can be easily managed into any budget.

Both of the “I can’t afford to” issues are the results of an overall lack of understanding of what business golf can do to improve business.

The answer to this and more questions about business golf comes from learning How To Play Business Golf.  Even for the non-golfer, there are ways of benefiting from golf in a time effective and affordable manor.  It all comes from learning how.

This is not to say that playing business golf does not take time and does not cost money.  Business Golf is golf and it takes both time and money to play it, but what comes with Business Golf that does not come with just playing regular golf is in how you go about planning for the outing and in the way you play golf with a client.

All of this and much, much more is discussed in the New How To Play Business Golf Seminars now available for you to book for your business conference or your business golf outing.

All of the secrets of How To Play Business Golf are in the book How To Play Business Golf and even more step by step methods of showing you how to play business golf is offered in the new seminar/workshops.  Go to http://innovativebusinessgolf.com for more details.

Studio 60: Fade to Black

OK Folks, it is over.  The final episode of Studio 60.  All of the hype of there being four or five more episodes being ordered up just seems to be just that, hype.  Lots of stuff being said.  BUT, who the frig knows what is going to happen with this outstanding drama.

Checking the Online Trotline:

TV.com gets the most Google hits on Studio 60, but they are not saying much so they must be buying that Google positioning.

Eonline.com did a good job putting into a few hundred words on why the show should go out...a good position for a site like that...I am sure that produced a lot of hits to their site.

TvSquad.com  My main man Jay over on TvSquad has a way of seeing what was going on with the S60 external plot, which to me highlights a total higher level of commercialism of the show that the CBS executives miscalculated, or did they?

That is about it for fresh stuff on Studio...seems most people online who were interested in the show left talking about S60 early this year...Hummm, could that be because there was no media hype out of the CBS camp for the return of the show?

Who really knows what is going on..it is just a shame that a great show has bit the dust.  I can only suggest that if you agree that contact CBS studios to provide your feedback...it worked for Jericho which was one of the lames shows I watched.  It is not going to hurt.

Business Golf: A way to find out HOW!

OK, Here is the Deal!

I had been talking to my fleet of Internet Strategist over implementing another tactic to get my books sales up...

The Business Golf survey showed that people, gofers and non-golfers, want to know about it. The only way I can come up with getting more people to know what Business Golf is all about is to sale more books.

Well leave it to my chief strategist Rex Dixon to come up with the “Here is the Deal” Campaign... Just make a deal with my viewers. A straight forward, you buy my book and I will make it worth your while.

Very simple marketing and out here in Never-Ever-Land...

Well it was worth a try...it is on now, so you will have to check it out.
